Stop the QuikTrip at Jamieson & Arsenal

We are a group of local neighbors focused on preserving the unique character of our neighborhood and promoting good development for our entire community. We oppose the proposed QuikTrip at Jamieson & Arsenal because we believe it will dangerously increase traffic and safety risks and negatively impact the environment.

Our mission is to ensure that our community remains a vibrant, healthy, walkable space for everyone.

The Issues

Below are the six key reasons why the proposed QuikTrip development is a risk to our community. But traffic safety alone justifies opposing it at this site: QuikTrip’s own site plan creates a real traffic mess.

One example: cars exiting I‑44 W to reach QuikTrip would have to cut across three busy lanes of Arsenal traffic, while competing with QuikTrip customers exiting left onto Arsenal almost directly across from that I‑44 W ramp. QuikTrip’s own traffic study gives its only Arsenal left-hand turn (that they designed) an “F” – the worst rating possible.

That’s a recipe for aggressive driving, people getting cut off, and inevitable accidents.

What matters more: your family’s safety or another QuikTrip?

1

SLUP Misalignment >>

The proposed QuikTrip does not align with St. Louis City's Strategic Land Use Plan (SLUP), which sets out a vision for the best use of land in our city to ensure healthy community development.

4

Crime & Financial Risk >>

This commercial build introduces increased crime risks, diminished property values, and increased insurance premiums. We don't want to risk our personal/financial safety for QT's profit.

2

Increased Traffic >>

QuikTrip's own traffic study predicts high volumes of traffic, especially during peak hours. We are worried about the safety and congestion this will bring to our residential streets.

5

Local Businesses at Risk >>

Nearby local businesses have voiced grave concerns about how this build will dangerously increase traffic, jeopardize daily operations, and increase security risks.

3

Environmental Impact >>

The QT build (gas station, convenience store, car wash) will cover 2.4+ acres, requiring significant land clearing and infrastructure changes. This will cause long-term effects on our local ecosystem.

6

Loss of Local Character >>

A massive gas station disrupts our quiet streets and erodes the peaceful residential atmosphere we love. This industrial build threatens the unique soul and welcoming charm of our community.
